Department Overview The Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) is located 12 miles west of the OHSU main campus, and sits on 162 acres of land featuring forested areas, research and administration buildings, indoor and outdoor animal housing, a pond, and 2-mile perimeter walking path. Our mission is to improve human health and the quality of life through the support of nonhuman primate research programs that advance our knowledge of the causes, preventions, treatments, and cures of debilitating diseases. Function/Duties of Position The Custodian will primarily provide cleaning services to the university. This position will collaborate with other team members, inside and outside of the department, by providing support, sharing information, and reporting issues. Individuals in this position must complete assignments by following written and verbal direction to achieve position objectives and department goals. The Custodian must also demonstrate flexibility and exercise independent decision-making based on the needs of the facility. The Custodian must have attention to detail, a passion for cleaning, and the ability to maintain positive rapport with customers. The Custodial position is part of a highly productive, flexible team capable of collaborating with other work units to provide our customers with an outstanding environment in which to work. OHSU is committed to sustainable practices; the Custodian will support waste minimization, recycling, and green cleaning practices and provide feedback. Required Qualifications * High School diploma or GED Equivalent. Equivalent experience may substitute for education * Knowledge of custodial practices * Knowledge and experience of floor care practices * Demonstrated service orientation and teamwork skills * Proactive problem-solving skills * Positive attitude and self-motivation * Ability to work independently and effectively at times * Ability to use computer and willingness to learn additional skills as needed for job * Ability to obtain any training or job certifications within orientation period * Demonstrate ability to follow department protocol * May involve work in animal areas where there is risk of exposure to zoonotic agents through injury, by direct contact with animals or their tissues and body fluids, or by contact with equipment contaminated by animals or their tissues and body fluids * Requires a high level of physical activity * Must be reasonably strong and agile, able to bend, stoop, climb, walk and have the ability to lift between 35-50 lbs. with or without accommodations * Must be able to work at a rapid pace * Valid Driver's License and the ability to drive ONPRC vehicles on and off campus * Able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation Preferred Qualifications * Custodial training * Leadership experience Additional Details Apply here online.
