This opening is for a Mechanical Engineering Technician within the Mechanical Engineering team. The person hired for this job will work closely with other engineers to support and maintain a wide variety of test and measurement products. The person must have good written and verbal skills and be capable of working professionally with different disciplines within our organization.

A Mechanical Engineering Technician at Tektronix has responsibilities in three primary areas of the business: Lab Management, Fixtures and CAD, and General Design Support.

Lab Management

+ Manage stock consumables, replace and repair equipment, perform chemical inventory, and keep the lab clean and safe.

+ Maintain 3D printers and replace parts, keep supplies stocked, and queue print jobs.

+ Keep machining equipment maintained.

+ Manage training materials and write equipment procedures.

Fixtures and CAD

+ Design and build exploded fixtures for product development support

+ Support design team requests for creating CAD models, doing drawing modifications, and doing customer facing support work.

General Design and Support

+ Asset Tracking- Keeping track of tools, computers, computer accessories, and other objects belonging to the engineering team.

+ Researching various tools and techniques to support engineering

+ Explore software tools to improve efficiency

+ Creating artwork for new labels utilizing Adobe Illustrator.

+ Modify existing parts and drawings and performing various engineering testing

A successful candidate will possess a minimum of a two year associates degree or other postsecondary training in mechanical engineering technology, and the following combination of experiences:

+ Working knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies

+ Manufacturing production experience

+ CAD skills

+ Working knowledge of additive manufacturing processes and tools.

+ Experience with Creo/ProE CAD SW preferred, and familiarity with Microsoft Office Tools specifically Excel for testing and evaluating designs.

+ Some experience designing cables, PCBs, plastics, sheet metal, and machined parts desired

+ Ability to lead small projects.
