WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
This candidate brings expert pattern making skills and a
digital-led approach. The candidate also needs to have a strong
product creation background and be a strategic problem solver with
project management capabilities. This role requires the use of
pattern making software (Optitex) and 3D tools & technologies such
as CLO. A keen interest in fit and block work as well as the
integration of innovative materials and craft will drive new GSA
Athlete Chassis creation to the highest quality. A curiosity for
consumer and athlete data, as well as testing and validation
processes will drive better decisions for our Athlete Performance
Block & Chassis. We're looking for someone who is eager to work
differently, approach problems with an innovation mind-set, embrace
new tools and technologies, and analyze new data to continually
improve decision making. A self-starting innovator, collaborator,
communicator, and advocate will succeed in this role.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
You'll partner across the business to create and implement new
Athlete Performance Blocks and Chassis, most often on pre-season
timelines. You will partner cross-functionally to validate, create
specifications, libraries and tools in the support of Fit and
Construction Standards for Apparel. You'll ensure project concepts
align with GSA Sport Dimensional initiatives, determining the best
methods and procedures on new projects. While also creating and
validating the physical Blocks and Chassis, you will also create
Digital versions using 3D tools (Clo) of all Blocks and Chassis to
be used for Digital Product Creation by the adopting Dimensional
product teams.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will be reporting to our GSA Technical Design Director and will
work with a dedicated Technical Design & Development team. You will
partner with Design, Materials, Product Management, Development and
Manufacturing Partners (both overseas and domestic), and Operations
to deliver validated Blocks and Chassis on advanced timelines for
adoption by the various GSA Sport Dimensions. You may also partner
with the Global Standards and/or NXT team to implement new Fit or
Grade standards based on new Consumer or Athlete data. You'll also
provide technical recommendations and support to the Dimensional
Technical Design and Product Development community and be at the
forefront of adopting, adapting new tools and processes to
implement across the business.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Apparel Design, Pattern Making,
Textile Science or related field or equivalent combination of
education and experience
- Advanced (5+ years) experience in the apparel development process
from inception through production, including but not limited to
pattern making, grading, construction, costing, manufacturing,
embroidery, materials and quality
- Expert in pattern making, translating patterns to written product
specs and construction standards instructions.
- Expert in 3D patterning, sewing and fit.
- Ability to act as a technical resource and mentor others; lead
initiatives and project teams
- Demonstrated skill in problem solving and results orientation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage a high workload and multiple projects
- Proficiency with CAD Pattern Design software (Optitex) and 3D
software (Clo) highly desired
- Proficiency with MS Office programs and Adobe Illustrator
- Ability to travel 10-15% of the time including international
travel
