As a lead software engineer in Nike's Global Technology, you will serve as the technical leader of a squad in the Cloud Acceleration department. Our department enables other Nike developers to focus on serving athletes. The squad owns and operates Referee, an open-source platform for automated canary analysis, and Cerberus, an open-source secrets manager.

Lead responsibilities include the following:
Mentor engineers on squad. Advocate for quality engineering practices, designs and implementations.Lead team in DevOps practices, owning complete software lifecycle.Represent squad with stakeholders, and work closely with product manager to define and clarify business requirements.Write reusable, tested, and efficient code.Write automated tests to validate changes, and manually test those code changes.Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems and code defects.Provide on-call support for critical systems owned by squad.Use a variety of tools for source code, builds, and deployments.Operate supported systems in test and production environments.Provide technical support to internal customers integrating with squad's products.Be an active participant in squad meetings and processes, like design and code reviews.Suggest and implement ways to improve tools and processes.Collaborate with other engineers and squads to design solutions and resolve issues.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE:
Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Technology, or equivalent experience.7 or more years professional experience working as a software engineer. Some of this experience should be on large, complex systems in a public cloud environment.Extensive knowledge of and experience with Java and the JVM.Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with business partners and other engineers.
Candidates should have some of the following skills:
Knowledge of at least one other programming language like Python, Golang, C, etc.History of continual learning about technical subjects.Experience with software revision control tools (like Git or Subversion) and CI/CD pipelines.Experience designing and building cloud-native solutions in public cloud environments like AWS or Microsoft Azure.Knowledge of and experience with database technologies.Experience producing system metrics and using platforms like SignalFx or New Relic.
