Rehabilitation: Directors of Rehabilitation work to insure that all
therapists working under the director are responding to the
patients within the facility adequately. The director is in charge
of keeping up to date on licenses that are required by each
individual therapist. This person is required to review reports
from each individual patient requiring rehabilitation. The position
requires a degree in physical therapy, occupational therapy, or
speech therapy. Experience in the field of rehabilitation is
required, as is demonstration of managerial practices. The position
requires extensive knowledge of the rehab's goals and the ability
to convey this knowledge to the employees. A director may be
required to provide hands-on services to patients. The Directors of
Rehabilitation's the lead on creating and implementing programs
with the clients inside the facility. The director is the only
worker able to deem a patient rehabilitated and clear them from the
facility. Directors will normally be at a desk reviewing reports
unless an observation of patients is required. A typical work week
for a rehabilitation services director will consist of a standard
daytime office hours. This position requires frequent walking to
follow up on patients' progress and requires meetings with patients
in order to determine if the patients are able to be released from
rehab.
