Surgical Intensive Care Unit delivers complex care to critically
ill patients, including those recovering from strokes, heart
attacks, renal or respiratory failure, and major surgeries. We're
known for specialties in stroke care, chest pain, robotic and
minimally invasive surgery, cancer treatment, and
orthopedics.--ResponsibilitiesParticipates in the recruitment,
interviewing, selection, education and evaluation of staff.
Assesses technical and professional education needs of staff and
develops or provides educational resources to meet those needs.
Ensures competency of all caregivers.----Designs a staffing plan to
meet the needs of the patients being served and ensures appropriate
allocation of resources to meet departmental needs.--Monitors
performance of staff and departmental processes. Provides timely
feedback and coaching; implements corrective action practices when
appropriate.--Creates and maintains a positive work environment
that supports a culture of shared decision making and open
communication. Holds staff accountable for patient and unit
outcomes.----Plans and manages the business priorities and clinical
needs of the department. Identifies and resolves issues affecting
the delivery of patient care services in the
department.----Develops the departmental budget; makes decisions
regarding expenditures of funds to meet department objectives and
maintains costs within budgeted amounts.--Demonstrates knowledge of
applicable statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements
relative to departmental operations / accreditation. Maintains
compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations,
hospital and departmental policies and
procedures----QualificationsEducation:--An academic degree in
nursing is required (BSN or MSN/MN); master's degree required;
MSN/MN preferred.----Internal candidates promoting from Assistant
Nurse Manager may meet the master's degree requirement with
verification of a master's degree in progress with an expected
completion date within 2 years of the promotion date; progress will
be reported periodically to the site CNO.--Experience:--Two years
of leadership practice experience required. Demonstrated growth in
leadership responsibilities and breadth desired. Experience in
critical care, ICU required. Previous clinical experience specific
to the appropriate area of specialty practice is highly
desirable.--Skills:----Demonstrated knowledge of clinical
operations, including staffing and scheduling, budget management,
workflow planning, staff development, quality, safety and patient
experience management.--Excellent communication (verbal and
written) and leadership skills, and a willingness to lead by
example. --Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic
systems applicable to job functions are essential.--Compensation
