As one of our Americas Employee Relations Directors, you'll create a competitive advantage for Nike by bringing your Employee Relations subject matter expertise to Nike's Global Employee Relations team. In this role you will lead a team of Employee Relations Managers and Specialists to provide resources and guidance when complex workplace issues arise among employees or between employees and managers, especially at key points of the employee life-cycle such as performance management, leaves, end of employment, and job changes. In addition, you'll approach your work proactively, and in a consultative manner, educating employees and managers at each touchpoint, enabling them to make decisions that provide a fair and consistent employment experience throughout the organization, thereby stewarding the employment and cultural brand of NIKE, Inc.

- Drive an effective, proactive, integrated ER strategy that aligns with the Company's vision and business strategies

- Identify needs and effectively recommend creative solutions to complex issues

- Identify opportunities for change management, conceptualize, and take action to lead and implement new approaches

- Operate independently with a broad perspective, strong interpersonal skills and good judgment

- Interpersonal skills - ability to clearly, succinctly, and persuasively communicate verbally and in writing to all levels within the organization, including executive management

- Excellent organizational skills

- Ability to prioritize heavy workload and managing multiple matters in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines

- Strong analytic skills and a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret information and identify trends

- Coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution skills

- Ability to lead a team and partner/collaborate effectively with both business and HR stakeholders

- Lead team of 5-10 ER Specialists, Managers, and Sr. Managers

- Coach and develop team - teaching strong investigative and coaching skills

- Monitor and audit team to ensure investigative protocol and case management entry is consistently followed and investigation outcomes are appropriate, consistent, and timely

- Conduct timely, objective and thorough high-level/complex internal investigations

- Ensure that all employee matters are handled with a consistent and disciplined approach that is aligned with Employee Relations vision and values

- Possess strong knowledge and understanding of federal, state and local employment laws and regulations

- Consult, coach, and influence all levels of management, including executive management, regarding critical and complex employee relations decisions

- Partner with Sr. Director Global Employee Relations and legal counsel to resolve complex issues and prepare for pending litigation when it arises.


- Bachelor's degree in Business, HR, Psychology, Sociology, Industrial Relations or a related discipline

- 6+ years' varied/progressive HR or related business experience, including 2 years' significant employee relations experience and experience in performance/compensation management, employee relations, training and development, leadership and competency development, and benefits

- 2+ years of experience required in lieu of a degree

- Deep understanding of US employment law

- Demonstrated Global Human Resources experience (e.g. HR Business Partner, HR Manager and/or Employee Relations Manager/Director)

- Strong negotiation and influencing skills with proven success in influencing employees at all levels of the organization in a consultative methodology

- Ability to be confidential with sensitive information Interpersonal and organizational consulting, delivery and facilitation skills

- Ability to develop and facilitate interventions that reflect systemic thinking

- Master's degree in Human Resources, Industrial or Labor Relations or JD degree with employment law practice

- Large corporation (20,000+ employees) HR/ER experience
