    What You'll Be Doing as a Manufacturing Engineer:



    Provides intermediate level technical input and promotes use of proven design concepts in the design or re-design of manufacturing and assembly processes or components. Partners cross-functionally to identify and implement optimal solutions to address issues of moderate complexity related to product design, materials, manufacturing processes and tooling systems.



    Responsibilities:


    • Consults on engineering projects related to new product introductions, product redesigns and process improvements. Projects are moderate in scope and complexity requiring an intermediate degree of evaluation, originality and ingenuity.
    • Independently researches, justifies and initiates designs for tooling, gauges, manufacturing and assembly systems of moderate complexity to ensure product quality, conformance to specifications and control of product/project costs and schedules.
    • Consults on and troubleshoots moderately complex production process problems requiring straightforward technical solutions for both internal and vendor supplied components/products.
    • Using standard and non-standard engineering techniques, partners with team members on applying state of the art technologies for manufacturing components, assembly processes, and Lean manufacturing assembly techniques.
    • Monitors the development of moderately complex new components or assemblies to ensure application of DFMA.
    • Using existing procedures, designs and develops moderately complex tools and fixtures to enhance manufacturing/assembly operations. Negotiates product component designs to accommodate cost effective technologies.
    • Provides support and guidance to Manufacturing Engineering Technicians in developing process and test criteria to for manufactured components and assembled products.
    • Creates and documents standard work process and procedures within the Manufacturing and Assembly areas.
    • Evaluates machinery and manufacturing capital requirements, establishes financial impact and performs cost justification to ensure cost effectiveness of new equipment, processes, and process changes and assists in the development of capital justifications.
    • Participates in NPI activities, Kaizen activities or large process improvement projects with cross-functional team members. May lead small stand-alone projects or segments of larger projects.
    • Designs processes in support of new product introductions which adhere to lean manufacturing principles as prescribed, and use the best ergonomics practices.
    • Plans and assists in the development of project schedules, estimates production and equipment costs, and adheres to schedules and budgets.
    • Interacts with suppliers, vendors, consultants and contract engineers to obtain services or support research and analysis activities.
    • Works independently with no guidance on standard work and general direction and guidance on complex issues.




      Skills and Experiences You'll Need as a Manufacturing Engineer:


      • Bachelor's of Science (B.S.) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering or closely related field, plus 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in tool design, machine technology, parts manufacturing, and assembly processes.
      • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
      • Depending on work area assigned, may require knowledge and experience in manufacturing with exposure to CNC machining/programming, or with product assembly and clean room operations.
      • Working knowledge of project management, new product introduction, demand flow, lean manufacturing, quality control and ergonomics methodologies and applications.
      • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) product costing; labor standards, statistics, process flow analysis, and problem solving.
      • Demonstrated ability to write and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers as well as technical and non-technical professionals.
      • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and project management skills.
      • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across functions to achieve outcomes that support business objectives.
      • Ability to effectively use and apply Company approved software and office equipment to process and accomplish job-related tasks.




        Work Environment:

        Normal office environment with occasional travel and exposure to manufacturing operations.
